To determine eligibility for financial assistance, the Tucson Hebrew Academy subscribes to the Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST) powered by ISM. Families requesting financial assistance must submit a Parents' Financial Statement (PFS) on-line with FAST. This provides detailed financial information to FAST which then computes a family's tuition contribution based upon a standardized calculation nationally accepted by independent schools. This system considers gross taxable income, assets, liabilities, family size, and number of children in tuition-charging institutions. After an allowance for basic living expenses and taxes, the remaining funds are considered discretionary income available for education. THA also requires a copy of the 2016 Federal Income Tax Return (and all supporting schedules and documents). Many factors affect a financial aid award. The most significant of these is family income, but others include:
- Family assets: home equity; savings accounts; stocks; investment properties
- Family size
- Number of children in tuition-charging institutions.
Confidential applications are reviewed annually by an impartial committee. Tuition and tuition assistance information is always kept strictly confidential. Funding for financial assistance is primarily provided by JETCO (Jewish Education Tax Credit Organization), though applicants are required to apply to two other specified organizations so that we can provide as much financial aid as possible to as many of our families as possible.
Payment of Tuition and Fees
As a service to its families, THA offers a number of installment payment plans giving parents single-payment, two-payment, and ten-payment options. All tuition installment payment plans require payment be made via an automatic debit directly from your checking or savings account to Smart Tuition www.parent.smarttuition.com. For families selecting the single payment plan, direct payment through Smart Tuition is not required, but recommended. Under no circumstances will the school accept tuition checks written directly to the Tucson Hebrew Academy on the installment payment plans.
The following Tuition payment options are made throught Smart Tuition www.parent.smarttuition.com for the 2017-2018 school year
Option 1: Tuition payment made directly through Smart Tuition.
Pre-payment - 100% of tuition and registration fees due by May 2017.
Option 2: Two (2) payments
50% of tuition balance due June 2017 and 50% due December 2017
Option 3: Four (4) payments
25% of tuition balance due June 2017, September 2017, January 2018 and April 2018
Option 4: Ten (10) monthly payments
Beginning August 2017
Option 5: Twelve (12) monthly payments
