Lower School

Kindergarten - Grade Four

Our daughter has attended THA for the past two years. She's happy, confident, and is receiving a great education. But, most importantly, THA provides her with values and a cornerstone of her moral foundation.

Our Lower School, grades Kindergarten through Fourth, features safe, nurturing, and creative learning environments. The comprehensive instruction each student receives reaches beyond the classroom and includes individualized support, intervention, and challenge. We help each child realize their maximum potential through outstanding academic instruction and experiences coupled with Jewish values and traditions as students develop critical early literacy and academic risk-taking skills by fostering a love of reading and a desire to experiment and explore in science, mathematics and other domains.

Lower School students thrive in a secure setting focused on the academic and social-emotional development and an inspiring immersion in Jewish customs and Hebrew language. We teach the importance of making a strong effort, taking care of the Earth, making society better (tikkun olam), loving and respecting our parents, siblings, oneself and others, performing tzedakah (charitable acts and giving), and learning to work, play, and problem solve together. Students are encouraged to cultivate a sense of community inclusion, strive to become leaders, and continually expand their social awareness through both secular and Judaic studies. As students learn about the lives of positive changemakers both past and present, study ancient civilizations and modern cultures in Social Studies, examine Jewish text, explore and experience Jewish practice and ritual, and master basic math and science concepts, communication and critical thinking skills are established through hands-on experiences, problem solving, asking questions, and open discussion.

THA's community of educations and learners support each other in the pursuit of developing future graduates who have the desire to accomplish the exceptional. This pursuit radiates throughout our Lower School program as students prepare for Upper School and a future where even the sky is no limit!
